Mestizo Charity Event
In April, Marysol Alvarado, manager of Mestizo will be running in the 2012 'Virgin London Marathon' on behalf of the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
A charity fundraising dinner will also be held at Mestizo on Friday 10th February 2012 at 8pm. Tickets will be £50.00 per person and include a welcome drink / 3 course dinner / live Mariachi and much much, more. (Contact Mestizo on 020 7387 4064 for details and tickets.)
Mestizo will also be donating £1.00 for every person ordering our 'taco tray' to this vital and important charity.

Tamales Festival

Enjoy 12 authentic tamale recipes from Mexico
Our 2nd Tamales Festival from the 26th January to the 2nd February is where you can sample 12 authentic tamale recipes from Mexico. The tamale (from the word Nahuatl Tamalli, meaning wrapped) is a generic name given to several Latin American dishes of Amero-indian origin. They are usually prepared with cooked corn dough (usually steamed), wrapped in corn husks or banana leaves. They can be savoury or sweet, flavoured or filled, and can contain a variety of meat, vegetables, cheese, chile, salsa & fruit.
(In Mexico, the 2nd February is the celebration of the 'Virgin de la Candelaria'. It is the custom to make tamales to enjoy with family and friends. Traditionally, the person who makes the tamales is the one who received the Jesus figure on the 6th January – during 'Rosca de Reyes')

London Restaurant Festival
3rd to 17th October 2011
Mestizo will be participating in this third city wide celebration of the diversity of London’s dining culture. Created by restaurant critic, Fay Maschler and her business partner, Simon Davis this festival is becoming an annual event in the London calendar.

Mole Festival & Dia de los Muertos
26th October to 2nd November 2011
Mestizo will be holding our third ‘Festival del Mole’, featuring a special menu of 12 ‘MOLE’ (moh-lay) sauces and authentic recipes from Mexico. These sauces may contain up to 40+ ingredients, and each estado (state) in Mexico will have their own regional specialities.
This time also coincides with the ‘DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS’ (Day of the Dead, Halloween, All Saints Day) celebrations and Mestizo will be having a special altar commissioned and displayed in the restaurant, to welcome back our ‘dear departed’…as well as a selection of seasonal specialities.

A special 4 course Dia de La Independencia menu is planned at Mestizo on Thursday, the 15th September, at £48.00 per person. Mariachi, music, el grito (the shout), and the best food this side of Mexico.
DOWNSTAIRS at Mestizo lounge bar will be hosting its own party. Entrance is £10.00 per person and includes 2 welcome corona, with our taqueria serving our wonderful tacos during the evening. Of course the Mariachi will also be performing, so everyone can get into the Mexican Independence Day festivities.

Mexican Chile Pepper Festival

The chile has always had an important presence in the Mexican kitchen. To honour this, Mestizo will be celebrating the Chile Pepper Festival. The week of 7th June to 12th of June, in place of our normal a la carte menu, we will be featuring a special selection of Chile Pepper recipes from all of Mexico, including Poblano, Chilaca, Ancho, Pasilla & Mulato chiles.
In addition to enjoying these wonderful dishes, you may take home with you some beautifully photographed postcards with all the chile recipes we will be serving.

CFAB SPRING FAIR - KENSINGTON TOWN HALL

Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB) International Spring Fair opens it’s doors for the 52nd time on the 11th May 2011 at Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall. Every year over 80 countries take part by hosting a stall which sells products that are exclusive to their nation. Each Diplomatic Mission sells an exciting array of national crafts and products, from jewellery, textiles and scarves, to designer handbags. With so many different countries involved the atmosphere is electric with several countries also providing additional entertainment which includes music and performances from national dance troupes. The International Food Court will be situated on the first floor.
